Ecourse4 is an online professional training program for emerging community leaders in Africa, named after its four core themes: leadership, project management, civic participation, and fundraising. Since 2021, it has trained five cohorts of youth leaders from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. The program is delivered in partnership with Michigan State University’s Alliance for African Partnerships (AAP), Makerere University, and experts from civil society and the private sector. Launched with support from the U.S. Embassy Kampala, each cohort follows a competitive selection process, with fellows completing 40 hours of intensive study over one month to build leadership and civic skills.
The program equips fellows with both professional technical skills and essential soft skills to help them grow as leaders and changemakers. Ecourse4 focuses on four key thematic areas: Leadership, Project Management, Civic Participation, and Fundraising.
The training is delivered in partnership with Michigan State University (MSU) Alliance for African Partnerships (AAP), Makerere University (Mak), and experts from Uganda’s private sector and civil society. Each cohort goes through a competitive application process, and selected fellows commit to at least 40 hours of guided learning over one month.
Training sessions are hosted on the MSU_AAP Bridge platform, allowing fellows to connect with a network of international professionals, mentors, and consortium partners. Since its inception, Ecourse4 has reached over 200 young leaders, the majority being women, across Kampala, Wakiso, Gulu, and Dokolo.
